Now down to business... everything pertaining to my Martial Arts "career." I started training in 1999 at the age of 6. The academy I started training in was a mixture of styles, it was basically what my instructor felt worked best. In the beginning we did a lot of karate when it came to our stand-up. I really enjoyed this becasue of the artistic value of the katas. As for our grappling we did a lot of judo and wrestling for takedowns and traditional jiu-jitsu for ground work.
As the Martial Arts world expanded so did our style and we eventually got rid of the more traditional things like kata and moved more toward kick-boxing technique. I remained with this academy for about eight years.

I currently train at the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts in both BJJ and Muay Thai,  in the future I plan to expand into the MMA program.  I've been training at this academy for the last four years and recieved my Blue belt on August 4th, 2010.

I have the amazing opportunity to train with pro MMA fighter's as well as multiple time champions in both Muay Thai and BJJ. These people include Pat Cooligan (Gracie Black Belt and head Instructor), Matt "Hammer" Hache (Black Belt, and recently had Pro MMA Debut), Nick Castiglia (Purple Belt, Pro MMA and Muay Thai fighter), Peter Fazekas (Purple Belt), Mark "Boots" Holst (Purple Pratchiat, Purple Belt, Pro MMA [UFC contracted] and Muay Thai Fighter, Jeff Harrison (Blue Pratchiat, Pro MMA and Muay Thai fighter, No longer at OAMA) and Gary "G-Money" Gilchrist (Blue Pratchiat and Pro Muay Thai fighter, no longer at OAMA).

As for my own achievements (Note all have been while I was with OAMA):

October of 2009; Renzo Gracie Invitational: Women's Lightweight- Silver in Gi; Silver in No-gi
March of 2010; Arnold's Classic: Women's Lightweight- Gold in Gi
June of 2010; Renzo Gracie Invitational (Gi Only): Women's Middleweight- Silver

As always, feel free to ask questions about both life outside and in training :)
